Tom is potentially right about Ritalin being bad for kids. I believe that he is completely wrong about everything else. I think Flying Spaghetti Monsterism is more believable than Scientology.
Every medication has potentially bad side effects for someone. Tom's just taking advantage of this fact (or would be if I really thought he were that bright). He's shown no knowledge of any of the potential side effects. You certainly didn't hear about this symptom from him. He's an idiot and I'm sick of him.
I don't think this makes Tom "right" about ritalin. Tom never did scientific studies on the effects of ritalin, and he never said ritalin causes kids to hallucinate. It was the scientific method that gives us more information about ritalin. Tom dismisses psychiatry as a whole, without which we wouldn't have had studies like this, and without which we wouldn't have improved meds for kids in the future.
I do think ritalin is probably overprescribed, but I also think psychiatry is a legitimate field of science, and there are people that clearly benifit from medication for depression, etc.
