Eighteen people voted -- and somehow, there was a tie.

So now, there's a runoff. Pick between Shaun of the Dead -- a funny British comedy with zombies -- and Edward Scissorhands -- a surreal romance about a weird loner with scissors for hands.

That's a tough one!
I think it's harder because they're both good, but completely different. You couldn't really be in the mood for Edward Scissorhands and watch Shaun of the Dead.
Although Edward scissorhands is a great movie it is not a Hollween movie at all. So for me the choice is easy (Even though Shaun of the Dead was way over rated)
Inbal, you missed the point of the question. Only one of the original choices is truly a "Halloween movie" -- It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. That's why the question was not to pick the best Halloween movie, but instead, to pick the best non-scary movie to watch for Halloween. I mean, while Nightmare Before Christmas has some Halloween in it, it's as much a Christmas movie as anything else. And the only thing Donnie Darko has to do with Halloween is that some of it takes place at a Halloween party.
Corpse Bride, Young Frankenstein, Shaun of the Dead, and Monsters, Inc., really have nothing to do with Halloween. The only tangential relationship is that some of the characters are dead or monsters. And The Goonies has nothing to do with Halloween, but has a legend about dead pirates. Scary Movie makes fun of typical horror movies.
Edward Scissorhands fits with the other choices because it's got that funky Tim Burton almost-gothic vibe and a strange lead character that makes for an interesting costume choice.
And Shaun of the Dead is way funny. The opening scene alone is worth it.
I've gotta go with Scissorhands. As much as I like Shaun of the Dead, I've only seen it once and don't feel like I'd get as much from repeat viewings as I have with Scissorhands.
seriously, there is no contest. Shaun of the Dead! ;o)
Justin: Just admit that you love Tim Burton. (As do I. I just rewatched Sleepy Hollow yesterday.)
Kimmie: I love it too, but I don't think I could choose one over the other so easily.
