Soon thereafter, I realized that it's a very fine small step from there to posting on the fan sites and showing up at Comic Con.darahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12523353095030819242noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21883778.post-60293077014522372222008-02-06T16:52:00.000-05:002008-02-06T16:52:00.000-05:00I never realized being into Zappa was geeky. I've ...I never realized being into Zappa was geeky. I've realized that being an obsessed fan of ANYTHING can make you a geek. A regular old fan will just take a mild interest while a geeky fan will know as much as there is to know, collect the collectables, chat about it with other geeky fans, etc. These days I guess I would have to consider myself a Howard Stern geek, much to the chagrin of my poor wife.Jasonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17601863377056165200noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21883778.post-27292116693710596492008-02-06T14:34:00.000-05:002008-02-06T14:34:00.000-05:00DSL: I think it's a question of degree. It's okay to be interested in books and academia, or obsessed with computers and sci-fi, or be introverted -- but keep it in moderation.

Plus, I don't know about you, but I'd choose a bookish weirdo over a vapid airhead any day of the week.

Scarlet: Exactly. You can do any of these things and not be an overwhelming geek. It's when you do a bunch of them to excess that it gets, uh, weird.darahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12523353095030819242noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21883778.post-85426957449114963802008-02-06T14:17:00.000-05:002008-02-06T14:17:00.000-05:00After seeing that list, I'm definitely not a dork....After seeing that list, I'm definitely not a dork. (Apologies to all the nerdy cheerleaders out there. I'm just using the term cheerleader to indicate someone who is part of the social structure rather than an outcast.) I'd probably be a nerd, only I'm not that smart.DSLhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02141553728048956859noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21883778.post-75509251954390842992008-02-06T10:16:00.000-05:002008-02-06T10:16:00.000-05:00Here's that quiz.
