Concert t-shirts

Admittedly, I have a lot of clothing. I have a particularly large collection of t-shirts. And when Pop Candy ran an article about favorite concert t-shirts, I realized that I had a lot to choose from. And since my cable box is busted -- I won't get the replacement until Saturday -- I had some time to think about it.

This one's my favorite, hands down:

Go figure.

This is a close second, though:

And those aren't even my only U2 t-shirts:

I even have a U2 crew t-shirt that I bought for my brother, back when he was going through a phase where he liked to wear employee shirts from places that he did not work. But I never did give it to him.

The second-largest number of t-shirts are from the Goo Goo Dolls. But that makes sense, considering that I've probably seen them the most of any band. Heck, I saw them four times on the same tour -- but I only bought one t-shirt then, and it's the one I cut up:

I'm pretty sure that I had another one -- a white t-shirt -- but I can't find it.

Next, I have two Beatles shirts:

Admittedly, I wasn't around to go to these concerts. But they still count, right?

After that, in alphabetical order, AC/DC, Bon Jovi, Counting Crows, Dave Matthews Band, the Doors, Pearl Jam, and Poison:

So, that's my collection of concert tees. It's only a small portion of a vast collection, though. Maybe later I'll post pictures of my four different CBGB's t-shirts.

Update: I sent the picture of my favorite in to Pop Candy, and they posted it.

I don't know that I have any concert t-shirts anymore. I haven't bought one at a concert since college, I'm sure, and I don't have any anymore. Back in the day, I used to wear them alot...

I had a Red Hot Chili Peppers shirt that was my favorite, which I didn't actually buy at the concert because I never actually saw them until 3 or 4 years ago.

I also had a They Might Be Giants shirt, a Tom Petty shirt, a Soul Coughing shirt, an REO Speedwagon shirt that was a hand-me-down from my sister, and a Soul Asylum shirt. I had a REM hat that I wore all the time in college too. I probably had a Phish shirt but I don't specifically remember... it seems like I did, though. Those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

Just tell me you weren't those people who wore the concert t-shirts to go and see the same band?

I too had my fair share, but they're all long gone. I think I had the same Pearl Jam shirt that Dara had, though that's odd because I don't think I ever say Pearl Jam in concert. There was a Violent Femmes shirt and a Tripping Daisy shirt too. There were others, but I'm not sure who right now.

Justin: I used to have more too. I know at one point I had Nelson, Guns N' Roses, a different Bon Jovi, and at least two Grateful Dead. My college (and law school) wardrobe generally consisted of a music or sorority t-shirt, jeans or a long hippy skirt, and birkenstocks.

I do still buy them on occasion. But only when I really love the band.

Jason: I have, on occasion, been known to wear an old U2 t-shirt to a U2 concert. But I would almost never change into the t-shirt at the concert. The one exception was one time at an outdoor venue where I was seeing the Goo Goo Dolls and it suddenly went from pleasant to unbearably hot and humid -- which is why I bought the tank top.

Holy smokes! I guess if you ever run low on cash, you can always eBay them. They look like they've never been worn. Or at least washed heh.

Mad: The only one that hasn't been worn a lot is the Bon Jovi one. And I haven't worn either of the two oldest U2 t-shirts or the Pearl Jam t-shirt in quite a long time.
