Not paying attention

I've been so busy that I didn't even know that tonight was the first Screen on the Green. Although it's probably not such a good idea for me to sit outside in the heat -- with all of those people around -- while I'm this sick. I should take medicine and get extra sleep.

I am, however, fully aware that the Cubs are in town to play the Nats this weekend, just in time for the "Grand Reopening" of RFK.

Out, out damn cold! I need to be better by Friday!

Nothing worse than a summer cold. Well, OK, bubonic plague might be a little worse. Hope you get better soon.

Having a cold while it's hot outside is just plain weird. My apartment was 80 degrees last night, and I couldn't stop shivering. I'm actually looking forward to going out into the 100 degree weather to buy lunch.

Will the world really come to an end if you stay home for a day or two and take care of yourself?

No, but stuff needs to get done.

And the world won't end if I work while I'm not feeling well either. It's not like I'm dying -- I have a cold. And, as long as I take my medicine and keep hydrated, I'm functional.

It's not about dying as much as it is about getting other people sick. And before you make an Atlantic City comment, that was all Ted's fault.

I honestly wasn't even thinking about Atlantic City. But now that you mentioned it . . .

On Sunday, when I was sickest, no one else was in the office. Yesterday, when I was still pretty sick, I consciously limited my physical interaction with others, doing most of my work by phone and e-mail. And with the door closed, I managed to get a lot done.

Today, I'm feeling much better, just coughing a bit. It's amazing what cold medicine and a full night's sleep in an 80-degree apartment can do for you. And again, I've been surprisingly productive.

Summer colds do suck. Have you tried taking that AirBourne Vit C?? It's awesome...

Sigh. And this is why colds travel throughout the office. My supervisor got me sick, with very limited interaction, and it pissed me off. I do hope you feel better soon for your sake. And who was sick during Atlantic City?

Ryane, thanks for the tip. I've heard good things about the Airborne stuff.

Debby: Both Ted and Justin were sick when we went to Atlantic City. I was not sick until the next week. Those bastards.
