Can you say "overly litigious"?

Passengers are suing Air France because, on a flight, Bonnie Tyler performed Total Eclipse of the Heart for the co-pilot, making them feel unsafe.

If I had been there, I'd probably feel unsafe too. I mean, that song might put the entire crew to sleep, and then who'd be around to land the plane?

Poor Bonnie Tyler -- not quite Donna Summers, not quite Kim Carnes.

Ewww I hate that song. It cracks me up that the article says they were traumatized.

I admit I love that song, but that is really inappropriate, even though the plane is essentially on auto-pilot. I know a lot of people are nervous about flying. It could possibly be seen by some as having your cab driver driving while on the phone (as if they ever aren't).

Mad: Excellent description.

Sweet: I don't really hate the song, but it's definitely an "in the privacy of my own car" kind of thing. I think traumatized is definitely overselling it.

Debby: Right with the inappropriate. But enough for a lawsuit?

And I've yet to see a cabbie not talk on a cell phone. I'm somewhat convinced that when I do, it'll be signaling the apocalypse.

While I cannot remember it word for word, it seems like there was an SNL skit with Phil Hartman about a law firm, with a comment something like, “There are times you can never file a lawsuit . . . . False, you can always file a lawsuit.” Seems appropriate in this context. Would be surprised they don’t file the suit in Mississippi even if they are French . . . .everyone else does.

The real problem is that the song keeps saying "turn around." I mean what if the pilot turns around every time he hears that? That's a waste of gas, it's going to delay the flight and it's going to cause havoc on all the passengers' stomachs.

Haha. I would've been laughing so hard...talk about cruel and unusual punishment. I don't hate that song, but then again--I don't want to be forced to hear it up close and personal on an airplane, either.

I've just seen far more frivolous law suits, but it is funny. On the other hand, I might join a law suit again DC cab drivers. :-p

The fact that the law suit is about the singing, and not the "celebration" (which I would find significantly more worrying) says something about their opinion of that song ;)
